Questions

What is Purnima?

The full-moon day, the last tithi of the bright half (Shukla paksha); many keep a fast and worship Vishnu (Satyanarayan) or the Moon.

What is Amavasya?

The new-moon day, the last tithi of the dark half (Krishna paksha), traditionally set aside for remembering ancestors (pitru tarpan).

What is Ekadashi?

The eleventh tithi of each half of the month, sacred to Vishnu and kept as a fast; there are usually 24 a year, 26 in a year with an extra (adhik) month.

Why do these dates differ between calendars?

Tithis are counted from the sunrise of a place and the exact positions of the Sun and Moon, so a date can shift by a day between cities or calendars. These are computed for your city.
